How Did I Meet This Expectation?
Demonstrate ability to evaluate sources of biology information on the internet
In order to meet this expectation I would have to use credible sources. The source had to be written or edited recently, have hyperlinks to show where the information is from, and cannot be edited by others.
I met this expectation by using credible sources and doing a backround check on the author that wrote it, making sure it was edited recently and cannot be edited by anyone other than professionals in that field.
Demonstrate an ability to read and understand current biology news
In order to meet this expectation I would have to go on the hyperlinks of my source and research more on the topic.
I met this expectation by not only using my two sources for my post but checking out all the hyperlinks of the articles and researching the topic more.
Demonstrate proper use of online resources
In order to meet this expectation I would have to use hyperlinks, site my sources, do a backround search of the author, check wehn the article was written or edited, and see who can edit the page.
I met this expectation by using credible sources that contained dates of the last edit and hyperlinks to where the information is from. I also made sure I could use the pictures I used by not plagirizing.
Publish work that is available for peer-review
In order to meet this expectation I would have to site my sources so my peers will be able to check them as well.
I met this expectation by posting my sources on the credible sources page and having atleast three people accepting them. My post is published on a website that anyone can view.
Discuss published work with a practicing biologist in that particular field
In order to meet this expectation would have to contact the biologist using proper grammar, being polite, complete sentences, and with a professional tone.

In order to meet htis expectation I would have to give feedback on the credible sources page.

In order to meet this expectation I would have to make sure my blog post relates to our class discussion.

In order ot meet this expectaton I would have to add photos, videos, hyperlinks, my sources, and a colorful vocabulary to my page and blog posts.

New Brain Connections Form Rapidly During Motor Learning

According to a study recently published in Nature, new connections begin to form between brain cells almost immediately as animals learn new tasks. They experimented with mice. The mouse would have to reach through a slot to get a seed. They observed rapid growth of structures that form synapses (connections between nerve cells), in the motor cortex (brain layer that controls muscle movements).

“Dendritic spines” grow on neurons in the motor cortex. These form synapses with other nerve cells. The neurons receive messages from other brain areas involved with motor memories and muscle movements. Different motor behaviors are stored using different sets of synapses in the brain. What the researchers at the University of California, Santa Cruz would like to research in future studies is how these findings would apply to different types of learning.
