Student Expectations
How Will I Meet This Expectation?
How Did I Meet This Expectation?
Demonstrate ability to
evaluate sources of
biology information on
the internet

  • I will be sure to state why my sources are fully credible in my post.
  • *I will choose sources that are scientific and factual for my posts.
  • I made sure that the source I used was scientific and that it was factual.
  • I chose the source that gave me the most information my topic for my post.
Demonstrate an ability
to read and understand
current biology news
  • I will use topics that I find in the Sunday newspaper. Then I will write posts based on the topics I find.
  • *I will make sure that my sources are current by checking that the date is less than a year old.
  • I made sure that the source I used for my post was current
Demonstrate proper
use of online resources

  • When I use a photo sharing site for my post, I will be sure to search in the creative commons.
  • *When I use a video from the internet in my post, I will give full credit to the owner of that post.
  • I posted the source for my post on the wiki.
  • I used a flickr photo for my post, and I made a hyperlink back to the photo source. I also searched within the creative commons.
Publish work that is
available for peer-review
  • I will post my work on the wiki page for my other classmates to correct any mistakes.
  • *I will make sure that my classmates make at least one correction to my post before putting it on the blog.
  • I put my post on my wiki page so that my classmates could review it and make comments on it.
Discuss published work
with a practicing biologist
in that particular field

  • I will search the web to find a biologist who is studying the same topic that I have chosen.
*
  • I asked a practicing biologist a question about snow leopards for my post.
Provide constructive
peer-review to
classmates
  • I will correct my classmates when they have not given credit to their sources.
  • I will edit my classmates posts on their wiki page. I will respond to the comments that are submitted to my posts.
*
  • I approved one of my classmates sources for their post.
  • I edited one of my classmates posts

Discuss in-class
assignments

  • For my posts, I will use interesting topics based on the assignments and discussions that were taking place during class.
*
  • I used the topic of evolution for my post about the adaptions of the snow leopards in their environments.
Apply creativity
to work
  • I will choose topics that I think many people would be interested in.

A snow leopard is a very interesting mammal. Snow leopards have made many adaptions to their environment. Their habitat is spread over many Asian countries, primarily in China and Tibet. Snow leopards live at high elevations at around 3,000-4,500 meters above sea level. The snow leopards have to adapt to the tough conditions in the mountains. In the fall, they grow a fur coat that is much more dense than the summer coat. Another adaption of the snow leopards are their paw pads. They are covered with fur to keep their body heat from escaping through the paws. The fur on their paws also works as a snowshoe when traveling through snowy areas. The snow leopard has adapted its nose for living at high altitudes. Its nasal cavity is enlarged, which is a big advantage. One more adaption of the snow leopard is their tail that can grow up to three feet in length. The tail wraps around their body when it gets cold during the winter.
What are some other intersting facts about the snow leopard? Are there any other adaptions that the snow leopards have made? What other mammals have made many adaptions?
These adaptions over time have helped snow leopards to survive in their harsh environment. Even though there are an endangered species, it appears that the snow leopard is on a road to recovery. This is why the snow leopard is a very interesting mammal.

Very nicely done Logan theres only one thing i see with your post that can be deemed wrong you said "Snow leopards have made much adaption" i would change it to Snow leopards have made many adaptations other than that very good post-Richard Collins
Sam F: Good post logan. some suggestions are to make it longer and add some creativty related to post to post. your hyper links seem fine. Overall i liked it a lot.

Hey it's Logan. I like to play sports, listen to music, talk to my friends, and I like to party. I play basketball, baseball, and tennis. Baseball is my favorite, but of course Calverton does not have a baseball team. The type of music that I mostly listen to is rap.

The thing that I enjoyed the most in biology class was learning about animal behavior. I was amazed when Miss Baker showed the class the video of a clever crow. The crow was using cars as nut crackers. It was pretty intersting how a crow could learn such a useful behavior like this.

In a cell the nucleus contains the largest amount of DNA called chromosomal DNA. The cytoplasm separates the chromosomal DNA from the other parts of the cell. The mitochondria also contains DNA called mitochondrial DNA. DNA is also in cells that contain chloroplasts called chloroplast DNA
